Beach Portrait Session in Narragansett, RI – RI Family Photographer

It may not feel like it but the warm weather is around the corner! I can’t wait to get back to the beach for fun and for photos! I absolutely love doing family portraits in the Ocean State. We have so many beautiful spots in this little state. Here is a portrait session I did in Narragansett last summer. One of my faves from last year!

Outdoor Mini Sessions – RI Portrait Photographer

I started my portrait business with a facebook post for mini sessions 10 years ago. I was working for a photography team here in RI and I thought maybe I would try to do some work on my own. My first mini event was a huge success! Everyone who came to my first event came back to do more sessions with me and some still come to this day. After the first couple attempts I swore to never do these kinds of sessions outside again! The weather was too unpredictable, where would I take a break?! I never thought the possibility of a pandemic make me think otherwise! Spring sessions are coming soon! Again I’m doing two options… Inside mini’s and outside. I thought I would take this opportunity to share a mini I did this fall. You can do so much in a little bit of time!

Home Birth Session in RI – Home Birth Photographer

Confession to make…  This was my first time photographing a birth!  Was I nervous?  No.  I have been a professional photographer for almost 20 years now.  While this site is dedicated to my portrait work most of my photography experience is in events like the ones I do with my business partner at M.Studios.   At a wedding there are no do overs.  You can’t tell stop the couple while they are entering their reception and say “Hey, can you go back?  I missed it”.  Missing it is not an option.  You have to think on your toes and be ready for anything.  I was ready for this!

As a photographer the second you put that camera in front of your face you remove yourself from the situation a little.  There’s so many things going through your head – your exposure, lighting, composition, that water bottle in the background you need someone to move.  I had to remind myself that I was witnessing a the birth of a human being!  It was amazing to say the least.  My profession allows me to share in the happiest and even the saddest moments in people’s lives.  I started my business because of my love of photography, but it has now became so much more than just the pictures.  Thank you to Mom and Dad for welcoming me into your home and for trusting me to document such a momentous event!  It’s one I will never forget!

Maternity Portrait Session in Providence, RI

It was a rainy day but with limited availability and a baby on the way we had to act fast or no maternity session!  Thankfully we chose a spot in Providence with lots of places to tuck away from the rain.  Umbrellas always make a cute prop for any portrait anyway!  We had to do it because babies wait for no one!  I was especially excited to meet this family since they put their trust in my to document the birth of this little guy!  What a truly amazing experience, but we will save that for next time…

Birthday Portraits and Valentines

If you’ve been following me over the past 8 years you will recognize these cute faces!  I thought this was a suitable session to post the day before Valentine’s Day!  The first photos are of big sister.  She is a sparkplug to say the least!  I love taking her photos because of two reasons 1) she is comfortable around me and 2) she doesn’t like having me take her photos.  As funny as it sounds these two things are the perfect recipe for photos!  Since it’s all a big joke I get some great candids!  Second we have her brother who was born with a congenital heart defect.  He has had more surgeries in his first year than most adults will have in their entire lives.  It is actually CHD awareness week!  CHDs are the most common birth defect, affecting nearly 1% of all births in the U.S.  Most people are unaware of this.  I know I was!  More discussion will hopefully result in more research funding.  It has been a pleasure to see Silas and take his photos year after year.  He is truly a heart warrior.
