The salty breeze, the sound of crashing waves, and the warmth of the sun… nothing beats a family portrait session on the beach especially at Bonnet Shores Beach Club in Narragansett, RI. I get tons of inquiries from families making their summer pilgrimage to Narragansett looking to capture those moments against the backdrop of Rhode Island’s stunning coastline. I mean, come on, they don’t call it the ocean state for nothing!

And let me tell you this session from last summer was so much fun! The family showed up looking like they just stepped out of a magazine spread. Seriously, they nailed it with their outfits! I always try to offer a few tips to help families coordinate their looks and these guys took my direction. It made all the difference in the world when it came to the photos. When everyone’s feeling confident and coordinated it really shines through in the final shots. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do—capturing those precious memories for generations to come.

Home Birth Session in RI – Home Birth Photographer

Confession to make… This was my first time photographing a birth! Was I nervous? No. I have been a professional photographer for almost 20 years now. While this site is dedicated to my portrait work most of my photography experience is in events like the ones I do with my business partner at M.Studios. At a wedding there are no do overs. You can’t tell stop the couple while they are entering their reception and say “Hey, can you go back? I missed it”. Missing it is not an option. You have to think on your toes and be ready for anything. I was ready for this!

As a photographer the second you put that camera in front of your face you remove yourself from the situation a little. There’s so many things going through your head – your exposure, lighting, composition, that water bottle in the background you need someone to move. I had to remind myself that I was witnessing a the birth of a human being! It was amazing to say the least. My profession allows me to share in the happiest and even the saddest moments in people’s lives. I started my business because of my love of photography, but it has now became so much more than just the pictures. Thank you to Mom and Dad for welcoming me into your home and for trusting me to document such a momentous event! It’s one I will never forget!

Wild One Cake Smash Portrait

I absolutely love doing first year portraits! Babies grow and change so much in that first year. I think people forget what a big milestone it is for parents too. It’s the end of the first year you’ve had with your new baby! It’s year of learning and growing for you both. It’s also most likely the first and last time in your child’s life that someone will set an adorable cake in front of them and say “Tear it apart!”. Side note, most babies don’t smash the cake. This little guy didn’t despite his wild one theme! He was actually too busy trying to get into everything else at the studio BUT the cake! Regardless of his speed we got the CUTEST photos of him! Thank you, Bake.Eat.Love, for the amazing cake!

Newborn Session – RI Family Photographer

There is nothing that means more to me than a loyal client and you can’t get more loyal than this family. Think of a milestone in any family and I’ve been there to capture it for these guys. Engagement, Marriage, Pregnancy, First Baby, Holidays, Family Portraits, First Birthday… Yup I’ve done all those sessions for them. They’ve stuck with me as their family photographer. I feel the utmost gratitude to them for this. It is truly an honor. Yesterday I was called in again to take photos of their newest baby, Evie! When Mommy texted me a couple of months ago saying that she was getting her girl I was beyond excited!! I knew there were high hopes for a baby girl this time and that dream came true! Big brother, Caleb, has to share the spotlight now. He has gotten a pretty big spotlight thus far so there is enough to go around. This is a wonderful family with so much love! A big congrats to Mike and Meredith!!!

What’s better than one baby? Two obviously! Then add in a cute older sister just to make it over the top adorable and you have our portrait session! Mom and Dad brought Grandma for some back up and I had my M.Studios business partner Marisa on hand to help with some posing. It truly does take a village! With everyone’s help we were able to get our shots! So happy with the results!
