It may not feel like it but the warm weather is around the corner! I can’t wait to get back to the beach for fun and for photos! I absolutely love doing family portraits in the Ocean State. We have so many beautiful spots in this little state. Here is a portrait session I did in Narragansett last summer. One of my faves from last year!
If you’ve been following me over the past 8 years you will recognize these cute faces! I thought this was a suitable session to post the day before Valentine’s Day! The first photos are of big sister. She is a sparkplug to say the least! I love taking her photos because of two reasons 1) she is comfortable around me and 2) she doesn’t like having me take her photos. As funny as it sounds these two things are the perfect recipe for photos! Since it’s all a big joke I get some great candids! Second we have her brother who was born with a congenital heart defect. He has had more surgeries in his first year than most adults will have in their entire lives. It is actually CHD awareness week! CHDs are the most common birth defect, affecting nearly 1% of all births in the U.S. Most people are unaware of this. I know I was! More discussion will hopefully result in more research funding. It has been a pleasure to see Silas and take his photos year after year. He is truly a heart warrior.
There are lots of photographers posting summer sessions during this cold spell with captions like “Can’t wait until it’s warm again!” I have been thinking “i’m not going to that”… But here I am!! I’m doing it! Oh well! I sat down to blog on this cold Saturday and I couldn’t help but to pick this session to share. I love these photos from Duxbury Beach in MA. I also love the people in them! I first met them at big brother’s first birthday photos. Here we are today with a little sister! I’ve done a lot of sessions for this wonderful family. I’m already looking forward to the next one!… Because Mom is cool AF! Am I right, Liz!? 😉
I always like to talk about how long I’ve been taking photos of certain families. I might sound like a broken record some times but it really means so much. I have a special place in my heart for my repeat clients. They trust me, believe in my abilities and that means so much. I have been doing photos of big sis since her first birthday. She always likes to bring a prop to her yearly photos. It started with dolls and her puppies but more recently it’s her little brother and now horses! Looks like we have upgraded! I can’t wait to see what they bring next year!
I love doing family sessions at my clients house. It doesn’t hurt when they happen to have great taste and very cool decor! I’ve been photographing these guys since big sis was a year old. They’ve added a new member to fam – Magnus! Always an honor to document a new milestone!
