Fall Family Portrait in Roger Williams Park – RI Family Portrait Photography

The fall is a great time of year for photos. I guess that’s stating the obvious. Even though I’ve done portraits in the fall many times every year I’m so inspired once I get out there and start snapping. It also helps when you have such a good looking family! These boys are beyond handsome! I met Eli when he was the one and only baby. Now he is a big brother! Love watching families grow and the babies grow up. One of the best parts of my job!

Family Portrait at Roger Williams Park – RI Family Photography

A photographer likes to scope out different places to take photos, looking for good light and nice scenarios. You do this no matter who your subject is even if she is two. Of course once the session starts you quickly realize that no two year old is ever going to stand where and how you want them to stand. I’ve done photos of many two year olds, but I have yet to learn this lesson. I still pick out spots and check for light. 5 minutes later I’m running like a mad man to keep up to get the shot. This little lady was no exception! I do appreciate being kept on my toes. Thankfully it’s in my job description…

Phillip and William’s Brothers Portrait Session at Roger Williams Park – RI Baby Photography

One child is usually easy breezy, but two little ones can be a daunting task. Thankfully Phillip and William were happy to sit for me to get their picture taken.  Phillip was actually pretty amused by the silly things I do to keep my subjects interested and sitting still.  William was more perplexed as to why I was acting a fool!  Either way the out come is what I wanted – attentive little boys.  Not always an easy task.

See what I mean? I little like “What is this lady doing?”

These little guys were seriously adorable! Phillip is such a good big brother.

Alex’s 2 Year Portrait Shoot at Roger Williams Park – RI Children Photography

There aren’t many kids that I’ve taken more pictures of than Alex!  He is one of my best customers and with that title comes rewards, sort of like frequent flyer miles.  Alex’s second birthday fell in the middle of a mini shoot session and the birth of new baby brother or sister next month.  That’s a lot of pictures in a couple of months.  So, as a courtesy to one of my best and favorite customers we did a quick portrait at the park for Alex’s second year photos.  You will be seeing this little guy again in the next month or so when I do a newborn shoot for his new sibling.  Is it a boy or girl?  It’s going to be a surprise which I love!  Can’t wait see everyone again and to meet the new edition!  Thank you trusting me to photograph your growing family time and time again!

2011 Rewind :: Toddlers – RI Baby Photography

Toddler…  Oh, it’s a bad word for some people.  The terrible two’s, troublesome three’s.  Anyway you cut it this is the group that gets the most grief.  They are older and wiser.  They know what they want and they want it now!  This is the group that makes me work for it.  I have to wear many hats when photographing the toddler.  Sometimes I’m a total goof ball, running around, saying silly things and acting a fool to get some cooperation.  Sometimes it’s a marathon and I literally just chase them throwing optimal lighting situations and beautiful backgrounds out the window.  If the toddler wants to stand in front of a dumpster then I either have to make it work or wait until I can trick them into doing something else.  For the skittish toddler I am quiet and patient waiting for my moment to pounce.  Whatever it takes.  Parents have told me that I have the patience of a saint.  I think it’s that I just love kids.  You have to if you want them to be comfortable with you.  They can smell phony-ness a mile away.

I actually own one of these crazy toddler creatures.  He is the type I would have to chase around to get a nice picture.  I’m starting off this post with my two favorite pictures of him from 2011.  I can’t get enough of his hair!  I love it so much that it drives me crazy!   Next up will be the kids!
